I find myself awake at two in the morning! This is the second time in two weeks I find myself woken up in a burning/itching situation! I suspect spiders.

Does anyone have any tips with biting bugs?

If you have enough bugs to wake you up during the night after they have chowed down on you it is time for the exterminator.

One thing that worked for me on my clothing on my trip to Africa was some Permethrin. If you want to try it out Walmart sells the diluted stuff in the camping area of the store. Just spray it on and let it dry. Bugs hate it. The cheaper route would be to get the concentrate and mix it yourself. Then use a 5 gallon bucket to soak your sheets in and then hang dry them.

Permethrin is good. I'll also add Bifen to the mix. I ordered it off a website and you mix with water and spray around the inside of the house.

Thanks for the tips. I'll look into it.

Something needs to be done. My wife is organic and we'll see if it passes her test. She's in child baring age and can be pretty insistent

They have been advertising something on TV that is totally organic I believe. It is made of citrus oils if I remember right and you just spray it around your home. You might just do a search for "organic pest control" and see what pops up.

I agree. All I would have to do is to see one brown recluse spider and the Orkin Man would be out the next day. In paticular if I was going to have a infant in the home.

Bugs and a few other types of spiders are one thing but not the recluse or black widows.

Not much you can do with the brown recluses other than to kill their food source.. My brother got bit by one a few weeks ago, and it put him in the hospital for 4 days. The took a pretty good chunk out of his thigh as well. Call the exterminator, may have to fog/bomb your house, if its that bad? Make sure you don't have a bunch of crap up against your house on the exterior.. logs, tall grass, etc..

I've been pretty messed up this whole week. I got bit 3 different places and some major swelling and excruciating itching. I'm slowly on the mend. Still not sure what bit me, we don't have brown recluses here in CA but there are actually near a dozen different varieties of recluse spiders. With almost the same amount of venom as the brown recluse. What's most common here in CA are desert recluse.

But on a lighter note, I've spent the last few nights with the BB gun splattering some monster spiders. It was the best revenge ever.

I live in southern NV and we have black widows like crazy. I have really reduced the number of them around our house by cleaning up the property. I used to have several old cars, a storage trailer, pallets to keep hay off the ground, extra corral panels all around the property. Since we got rid of most of it the number of black widows has gone down dramatically.
I used to go out a night about once a week and kill 10-15 of them, now may 3-5.
Good luck with your spider troubles.

Wow, how do you sleep at night?! 3-5 is still 3-5 too many.
