If you put forth the effort to get into the Bob and are not successful in taking an animal the country there will make up for it. Really unique in the Bob, however, wolves and grizzlies are very present there. There is an early rifle season that starts Sept 15 in unit 150 and that is when and where most of the elk are harvested since it is during rut. Once the snow really starts to fly getting in there becomes very difficult, but it starts to push the elk out. I have done a couple hike in hunts on the north end of the Bob, but stock is your best friend in there or having access to some. I have some buddies that hunt the east side of the Bob and deal with grizzlies all the time but are successful because they are both there for the same reason...tough balance. To up your chances unit 415 might be worth checking out, you can take spikes, and boarders the Bob. In my opinion bowhunters are the most successful even though they compete with the early rifle hunt in 150 that starts later. Hope that helps...
