I've had some bad experiences with waterproof pants. I had what I thought was a good pair of Cabelas gore tex pants but destroyed them after several days in the oak brush of the book cliffs. I had another pair with seams that leaked. What rain pants have you guys had the best luck with? I'd like something tough and light.

I'm a big Cabela's gore-tex fan. But I don't hunt in rough country.

My buddy in Alaska calls it "Leak-tex" and giggled at my rain-wear.

His recommendation, helly hansen rainwear. Worth a look.

My Sitka?s have performed very well as well as my Kryptek stuff before that.

I ordered Kuiu Yukon jacket when I ordered a bunch of other stuff. Wanted to see how it fit and felt.

I liked it a lot. Fit was very different than my Cabela's Mto50 Gore-Tex rain wear. Fabric felt much more durable than the Mto50.

I ended up sending the Yukon jacket back, didn't really need it.

If the Cabela's gear fails, I would order the Kuiu Yukon.

Ive been pleased with my Sitka Downpour set. They're a touch heavier than some of the lightweight packable rain gear, but they don't leak, and have held up pretty well to midwestern thorns and such.

Sometimes, I think the best idea is to buy a cheap pair of frogg toggs. tough enough for a season or so, then throw them away when you rip them to shreds. Super light and packable.. I've always got a set in my truck.

I bought a pair of pnuma endurance rain set this year and it was awesome, it worked great but I big reason is because they make them in talls in both jacket and pants. Held up great for me this year. it also has a lifetime warranty

I use Sitka Downpour also. Have not found any rain gear that's quieter with out being heavier, bulkier or listed as rain repellent.

I use the cabelas packable. Better be sure not to snag it on any limbs though. It rips. But its super light and works reasonable well.

I got the First Lite SEAK jacket and Kuiu Yukon pants. I tried the Kryptek Koldo pants but they were to baggy a fit, I returned them and got the Kuiu. I haven't had them in a really bad downpour yet. I likely will in Alaska this fall.

A reasonably priced and effective lightweight jacket for possibilities of a short storm is the Marmon Precip. I've had good luck with mine in some 2-3hr storms while out fishing. It is a good hot weather rain jacket because it breathes pretty well. It is not a really tough jacket.
