There is a field by my place that march will usually have 40-60 head of elk in it.
This morning, probably only about 10 elk in the field. I do got to say I see elk fairly often, no more than a couple of days go buy with out seeing elk.

Over 10 years now, I have been watching this unfold. As soon as the grass is totally green, the elk disappear.
I don't know if the green grass mean head up to the hills or what. but it is funny, as soon as the whole field is green, the elk leave.

Probably a good year for elk and deer here in the west. I know we never got winter, and most of the west is this way. We got normal precipition but it all fells as rain. Don't be surprised when the west is on fire this year.
One draw back to no winter is, the ticks. A lot of moose and deer have gotten tick infestations. cruddy way to die in my mind.

Good observations. I also am already worried about ticks. Winter conditions sound pretty similar, but really dry here. Hopefully we get some good moisture this spring.

Yeah, death by tick bites.... Now that would really suck. No pun intended. I am on dense about all the fire warning signs. Colorado is already having "red" warning fire danger days. Not good.
