Just a heads up to verify your hunt number on your fall hunting applications.

I just applied for my fall deer hunt and saw where the hunt numbers have changed from what they were last year.

Hunt #s change year to year in several states. You should be careful no matter what state you apply in, especially if you are doing the application for a group.

You should make it a habit to double and triple check the hunt number in the state's big game application booklet both when you write down what you want and online as you are filling out the application. Nothing's worse than missing a year because you weren't careful enough.

Arizona has a bad habit of switching things around quite often. The code that I used last year will get me the same unit but in November instead of December. I have watched my javelina unit change numbers up and down, it has settled on the same hunt number now for 5 or 6 years so it is due to change again.

I had a friend that had been putting in for mule deer for years using the same hunt number. Then one year he ended up 100 miles away from the unit that he wanted to hunt. It was a good thing that he looked at the unit number on his tag that year even if it was on the second day of the hunt in his old unit.
