That report had some pretty juicy stuff in it, including how they manage the units the way they do and why!
I had no idea that those reports even existed........ what other little tidbits don't I know about?!

I keep finding new stuff all the time too! Takes a while to figure out different states sites. Im sure there is alot I havent found yet either.

I know that they keep harvest stats but it would be great if they kept stats for date of harvest. Such as what day of average season are most bulls harvested, what day are least bulls harvested.
The warden really encouraged me to try the late Nov/Dec season n said he thought not a single bull was harvested within the Rattlesnake HMA on opening day last year. That was really surprising! Prolly was not including outfitters operations.
In Illinois , opening day of firearm deer accounts for about 40% of yearly harvest.

Most seasons out west opening day or weekend is busy too. If its a long season I usually avoid the opener to let it clear out some. Usually during the week is the best time to hunt because alot of locals just hunt on weekends. This is more true in general areas or areas that are otc to residents but applies to LE units too.

I wish they would keep harvest stats separate for public and private land. Stats can be very deceiving if alot of animals are taken on private land.
