Hello, I was lucky enough to draw an area 30 elk tag for October as a Non-Resident! I was wondering, as I can't seem to find it on the web site, can I Bow hunt prior to the any weapon season?
I really know nothing about the area I drew, so if anyone has anything to offer it sure would be appreciated! I feel like I won the Lotto!

I'm fairly certain you can bowhunt prior to the any weapons season for most units. That's how it is for mule deer in wyoming anyway. I have not elk hunted wyoming yet, but I am certain they have an archery only season along with archery only permits.

Yes you can bow hunt it early the season runs from sept 1st-30th all you have to do is purchase an archery permit. it costs 12 dollars but im a resident so it might be higher for you. good luck on your hunt thats a tough area to draw congrats.

ADavid is right. The archery tag for a non res is $30. Keep in mind that allows you to hunt during the archery season with a bow AND hunt during your regular rifle season. Thats an interesting tag you have. I have never hunted it, but I will ask around. A friend of mine worked on hid Masters thesis in that area.
