I was having a hard time deciphering the Colorado division of wildlife website. Do they offer over the counter elk tags for archery as well or just 2nd/3rd rifle season?

Yes there is a vast amount of OTC tags for either sex archery elk. Not sure about the rifle as I only bow hunt. I have hunted unit 28 and 71. Just look at the archery section it tells you the limited archery units...meaning the ones you have to have points for. You need to literally spend some time just soaking in the website and really do some browsing and you will figure it out. It can actually be really helpful once you learn how to find what you're looking for.

I've been there Jorden. And Matthoek21 is right. Once you spend a few evenings on the site, you'll find that it's extremely helpful and user friendly. I wish all state's sites were like COs.

There are OTC archery elk tags for certain units. There's a map that lists the available units at the top on the site. If I remember correctly, you have to buy them in person and prior to the start of the season.

Colorado has OTC archery elk tags for about thalf of the units. If you look along the continental divide on both the eastern and western slope there are some good hunts. You have to work a little harder and hike a camp in farther but it is worth it. If you are headed out this way P.m me and I can point you in the right direction. Also if you wait for leftover tags to come out you can sometimes find a good tag that way. I think the list come out the beginning of July.
