Hello all,

This is my first post in a forum but have enjoyed reading for some time.

I am planning to do a DIY Antelope hunt next year and have been doing tons of research and feel as though I have a warm and fuzzy. Alas, I still have questions. I have my sights set on zone 11 I know there are plenty of walk in area and my group is all military guys so we aren't afraid of ruckin into some where for a chance at a buck. This is all of ours first antelope hunt so we aren't looking for a monster we just want to have fun and kill some ok bucks to get our feet wet. We all have one preference point which we intend to use just so we are 100% good to hook. Any suggestions? Is zone 11 a nightmare or can we meet our goals?

Any information would be appreciated I'm not looking to steal anyone's honey hole I just ask for some concrete info.

Thanks.

There is plenty of antelope, no monster, but a fair amount of good bucks. Have fun, and good luck!

I'd get a blm map and highlight all the WIA land, there's a couple thousand acres in that unit.

I hunt that unit, private land, and have not seen a 16" in many years of hunting there. Shot some 14"s though, and lots of 13"s. I haven't been on the WIAs so can't help much there.

Thanks for the info. As long as there are some pronghorns my group will be happy. It's our first time so we aren't going to be picky just a good looking one will do

i haven't hunted those WIA's in 11 specifically, but I get to drive around that area some. East of Lusk I have seen good groups of antelope right by the WIA signs off the side of the road. Anyway, I think go_deep is right, there is some good antelope habitat in there and lots of public ground to cover. I guess what I have seen for antelope is that they don't stick to private as much as say whitetails. If they like a spot they keep coming back to it and just kindof rotate pastures on their own, so with that much area with decent grass and stuff you will probably run into them. What I have seen of the WIA's there without actually hunting them, it looks pretty prime for antelope, pretty open, grassy, and sagebrushy. I am not sure why they don't seem to get as big down there as other places. Oh well. Well good luck.
