My brother and I are thinking about hunting antelope in unit 79 next year. Was wondering if anyone had been in there recently or had any general information on the unit. Mostly curious about how much public land is available to roam that contains antelope, what the area looks like (I love hunting/camping in pretty places), and what caliber of bucks might be available.
I'd appreciate any insight you guys might have. Thanks!

Planning on using the hunt as an excuse to jump next door and spend some time in 76. Want to spend some time in there before we draw our elk tags. So I'd love to get some opinions on some places to check out there as well. Thanks!

Sorry, not I. Good luck. Did you try using some of the tools on the WY G&F site? They can give you a good idea on amount of public land and basic access then you can go from there.

Haven't been able to find a lot of info on the CO site. Pretty good map, but not much detailed information.

If you are used to hunting goats in Wyoming, you will find out that in the southwestern part of Colorado, it is totally different. Most of the units have low populations and not too many tags. It usually requires a lot of boots on the ground to find the best areas. I scouted for 3 years before I hunted 81.There is a CDW office in Monte Vista and they might be able to help. When I was scouting, I stopped by and talked to a warden who was very helpful.
