I may be better at suggesting who you should stay away from, more than who you should go with. That being said, we have several really good moose guides up here. It would depend somewhat on the hunt type that you want. The Alaska Peninsula still has some really nice bulls and Joe Klutsch is one of the best. No one is more honest and hard working than him and he's been guiding the same area since the 70's. He run Katmai Guide service, 907,246-3030.

Another good starting place is looking at the Alaska Professional Hunters Association's website at akprohunter.org. Klutsch is listed under the Master Guide category. Other good ones are Wayne Kubat, Joe Schuster, Tony Lee...

Send me a p.m. and we can explore what you may want, if you are looking at Alaska.

Thanks for the response.
I would like to shoot a bull ( 55"and up) with a bow. That said...with the high cost of these hunts, I might be better off with a rifle.
I am 55 years old with some back issues...so a do it yourself hunt is out of the question.
I did go on a bow moose hunt last year in New Foundland. They're bow season is not during the rut, so calling is not even done. It was in the 70's every day with the bugs driving you crazy. WE did do a lot of walking...so that isn't an issue.
I have info from a lot of well known guides...whose prices are way up there. I would be willing to pay them if they give me a better chance. I think there are less known outfitters that will do the same job. That is what I hope you can help me.

That's a little tougher question to answer. The lesser known guys are often the new guys. They can be great guides but may not have found a really good area specific to them, whereas the long-time guys have their niche found already. Guiding is a tough industry to start out in up here and often the newer guides are limited to hunting on state land only. There is still some decent hunting in those areas but it can be crowded with several guides competing with each other.
Send me a pm if you get something narrowed down and I'll be happy to give you some recommendations.
