Hello all,

My wife has family in Anchorage that moose hunt every year, and they extended an offer to take me next year. I want to get any and all information possible so that I can go.

Do I need to apply for and draw a tag? Or can I just buy one OTC?
I know for some species of big game, a licensed guide is needed for non-residents, is this the case for moose?

Like I said, I'm just looking for any and all information.

Thanks!

You would be best off asking a lot of these questions to your wife's family that live up there as far as a draw or a OTC tag.

If you don't want to ask them the questions the Alaska Department of Fish and Game web pages have all the information that you would need.

You do not need a guide to hunt moose.

There are 26 units state wide and many have 5+ sub units. Some are OTC and the good ones are draw units. Takes some research.

Do it ASAP!!
It keeps getting more expensive, and more restrictive every year.
