As many of you know, recently I've been given the opportunity to test a lot of new products. These range from rests, broadheads, stands, camo, and a myriad of other hunting accessories. As I finish reviewing these products I'll post reviews of the good ones.
The first one to pass the test Is Akando Gear Scent Control Bags. After several emails with the co-inventor/co-owner Anderson Wasden, He sent me out a bag and an ozone unit.
Basically, you get a duffle bag with two side pockets. One side pocket contains an SIP Ozone unit (Its ok, I had no idea what that was either). The SIP unit basically activates the oxygen in the bag and turns it into ozone. The ozone kills bacteria that causes scent...all of it. To give you an idea, Ozone is the smell you notice after a thunderstorm....that fresh, clean, air smell.
The day I got it, I eagerly unpacked it and the instructions. More or less, you plug it in for 15 minutes and anything inside should smell like ozone. I gathered some smelly dish rags and socks and filled the bag about halfway. After 15 minutes I turned it off and pulled the stuff out. Pretty amazing results. Everything smelled clean and fresh, but still very natural. I then took my life into my hands and told my wife to smell it. She agreed it smelled like nothing.
Now, I won't feel like this is a full test until this deer season, but, I honestly think this is revolutionary in scent control technology. During turkey season, I've used the Akando bag every other hunt. I've seen many more deer the days I've used the bag vs. not. Shame on me for not keeping an accurate log but I didn't expect such a difference.
The bags sell for $119.00 which I know is a lot, but that's probably as much as most of us spend on scent sprays in 2 seasons. They also send a power invertor with each bag so you can plug it into your cigarette lighter and use it in the truck.
I'll keep everyone posted during deer season but feel free to shoot me a pm with any questions. Their website is Akandogear.com. I'll post some pics of the bag they gave me a little later.
***Please note, this is an honest review to help Eastmans members. I am not paid or employed by Akando- except for the bag they sent me to use.
