Before I buy a new Garmin, I have a couple of questions.
1. When you subscribe to the satellite imagery, will that stay on whenever you want?
2. When you buy the state specific map chips, will the satellite imagery stay on with the state specific map information?

I need the Garmin for home also so I am not really interested in ONX if I can do without.

I have an Oregon 650 and have landowner chips for Wyoming & Colorado. I bought mine w/o the geo survey elevation overlay. I don't know what you are saying when you say "subscribe to satellite imagery". What is that?

Mine is the same ^^^^^. It is a 650 not the 650T, No Topography until I put my state specific chips in.

Make sure that the garmin you buy has enough internal memory to handle the amount of aerial photography that you will want to download. You may wind up having to download your aerial photos on one SIM card, and switch between it and the state landowner card in the field. I would recommend calling garmin customer service and discussing which model would best fit your needs, i.e. Storage capacity, battery life, etc. I think you should be able to run the birds eye photos and the state cards at the same time though.

If your talking about Birds Eye Satellite Imagery, I don't use it. I find that with the ONYX maps, that provides more than enough detail for me as all I need are terrain features and property and unit boundaries. The quality of imagery is as good as Google Earth, just not as viewable on a 3" screen. I also use the Garmin 600 loaded with the 24k topo maps which is the same as the 650 minus the camera and a few other doo dads. Even using the Garmin at home can be a huge tool with the ONYX maps. I have called in Turkeys off private property on to public on a few times because of the ONYX maps. If you ask me, Garmin and ONYX go hand in hand. Its a one time fee.
