That's truly incredible. It is fortunate that it was discovered with the antler attached so that they could accurately date it, and that it was archeologists and First Nation folks who found it. I teach LNT (Leave No Trace) while on my canoe trips in Canada. Some of the principles are a bit extreme in my view, but one that is important is: If you find an interesting item in the wilderness; photograph it, document the location, leave it as you found it. It is now an "artifact" and consider reporting it to professional archeologists. If you remove it and take it with you, it has lost it's provenance and is now "loot". Having said that, I would find it hard to leave an ancient arrowhead where I found it.

That must have been a terrible loss for the hunter who fired that arrow. Imagine the man hours it took to craft that thing 900 years ago

pretty cool but I don't believe for a second that science can accurately date it to 900 years.

my guess is it's only been 899.

I recall back in the eighties there was a man that chipped out an obsidian arrowhead himself and sent it off to labs and they told him it was thousands of years old.
don't take on faith ,"fake science."

could be the copper(or obsidian in other case ) may or may not that old but truth is it may have been crafted ten years ago and they wouldn't know the difference. though I am sure some will claim it possible merely because told it was so.

Did the hunter get a pass through? I don't think the head failed to open. I wonder who he was a staff shooter for? If he named the game animal and had cave drawing pics that he named the critters so he could keep them straight?
