Senseless, this just confirms in my mind that we have a lot of work to do with our children to get this problem fixed. No more absentee parents!

yeah . first thing needs done is to start taking a switch to their backsides again.
ain't never been a CHILD DIDN'T NEED AN ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT occasionally .

had I done such things my dad would have beat me within an inch of my life. and I thank GOD he cared enough to do it.

Amen to both your comments. You can bet this won't get nearly the press it would had this been a firearm. This young man could have just as easily killed someone with this knife he brought to school.

Well guys I got a call from my daughters schools principal yesterday and my daughter got into a fist fight!

First thing she has been taught to try and work things out without violence. She has been trying to do this for a week with this girl. I won’t go into detail on what the issue is but I understand why they were mad at each other.

Second she has been taught to stand her ground and defend herself and this is what she did.

Yesterday she was confronted by this girl and a couple of her friends. The other girl through the first slap my kid through the next punch and the fight was pretty much over. Teachers broke up the fight and took both girls to the principals office.

Long story short, this is how IMO things should be resolved. Guns, knives or any other weapon should not be in any child’s hands in schools. Work things out with conversation and if it can’t be then go toe to toe.

I was taught this and so has my kid. I’m proud of her and the girl she got into the altercation with because they worked out their differences in a way I agree with.

When I got home from work and sat down with my kid and we talked about what happened and get this. She said she was happy that it was finally over and that the other girl and her apologized to each other and she thinks that they both will get over this and that they are probably going to be friends again.

Kids today have completely new challenges to deal with that quite frankly we parents can't really completely understand as we did not have social media and smart phones to deal with when we were kids.

Hate to see stories like this but I guess it's the the reality of our society these days.
