I don't know that it's "dying off"....It was always a niche caliber....i have a 300 RUM, and though maybe a little more popular, it's still a caliber that one has to want. That said, both calibers are fantastic for long rang hunting...and as such, are known to be barrel burners..some 1000 rnds or less....But, if you handload, there is some real accuracy potential in it....heres a pic of a 500 yd group i shot with my custom Rem 700....rsbhunter
