6a archery elk

I drew the first archery tag. Any info you could share? What could I expect for number and size of bulls? Areas to start scouting? Camp spots? Are the bulls talking and coming into calls in early September? Thanks.

Close to Albuquerque so lots of road traffic, a zoo over Labor Day! Elk fairly scattered throughout the area, good numbers of elk ,not typically a trophy unit.....280-300 a good bull although my friend did shoot a 350. Lots of places to camp. Look for pockets a ridge or two away from the roads and you will be fine or pack into the wilderness and dodge the horseback hunters.
