Is anybody shooting a 6.5 PRC or 300 PRC yet? Stockys has awesome deal on closeout 2018 stocks so I feel like i need to fill one up. I have a have a couple creedmoores and a 6.5 x 284 so i really dont NEED another 6.5 but something keeps calling me to these PRCs. I guess what appeals to me the most is they are supposed to shoot factory ammo better than most calibers because of the shoulder angle ( similar to the creedmoore). Can anybody back that up with real world data?

I tested the 6.5 PRC all last fall and can vouch for both its accuracy and efficacy. I shot the Hornady Precision Hunter and it was sub-MOA out to around 600 yards, from there it maintained MOA to 1K. That's as far as I stretched its legs but I was impressed. It also turned out lights on several game animals and left nothing to be desired. Several of my buddies are currently building rifles in it and they are picky dudes. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Not sure if this is what you're after by "real world data" but I was impressed with it and I'm not a 6.5 fan at all! I've shot them all and hunted with them all and can honestly say the 6.5 PRC makes all the rest of them a moot point. Unless you're into hot rods then it's the big Roy all the way. The 6.5 PRC is hands down the most well balanced and useful of the 6.5's.

The primary interior decorator of my house has been my 264 win mag that I run a mild load in pushing a 140gr bullet at 2914fps. I've been very happy with the terminal performance, wind resistance, and recoil level of it. The 6.5 PRC does the same thing more efficiently, I will likely own one in the future. I would already but it's hard to go away from my favorite rifle that I'm so confident with. Maybe when I need to re-barrel my 264 win mag.....

The Seekins Precision rifle at 2k looks like a whole lot of gun for the money in the 6.5 PRC.

Thanks men. Thats all i needed for encouragement. That seekins havak rifle does look nice but i get discounts on proof research barrels being a FFL dealer and i havent shot one yet that hasnt been nothing short of awesome for accuracy, no POI shifts, and very minimal copper buildup. With that said i will still have more into the action and barrel than the whole Havak rifle unfortunately. Hopefully I can have it ready to go when Spring rolls around and it aint -20 degrees out.

stockys Prairie Varmint Carbon Fiber Remington 700™ Stock i picked up on sale last week. Bighorn SR3 action NOT on sale. haha. I do really like the bighorn actions though. As luck would have it though my PRC barrel is out of stock right now so this build is on hold for a bit.

I was struggling for good load until the berger 156 EOL bullets finally surfaced. Now shooting UNDER 1/2 moa out to 1000yds. 56grns of H-1000 @ 2865fps. Also these bullets are seated way back(.210) from lands. berger did good things with these eol series bullets in my experience. Fun, fun, rifle. Time to put it to work this fall.

Haha Big Roy, love it. I just built one and hope to test it out on elk in about 8 weeks.

todd, I actually just received my 300prc proof prefit bighorn barrel from stockys yesterday that i ordered about 3 months ago. these bighorn prefits look too easy. just screw it on, no headspace gauges or nothin.
