410 Montana Elk Heard Health

How is the elk heard health around the Missouri Breaks, specifically looking at unit 410. My cousin and I are looking at trying to put an archery trip together whenever we can draw the tags. Does anyone have any thoughts or first hand experience in that area recently?

Good Unit, bit of hunting pressure but good montana unit. Two biggest tips- good tires and be flexible with the weather. If it rains your are extremely limited on travel and/or your truck could be stuck in camp for multiple days.

Thanks for the tips, I have hunted around there multiple times in years past for deer, just not elk. Any thoughts on how the elk herd is doing? Bull to cow ratio? etc.?

I have some good family friends that archery hunt that every year out of tree stands for elk and they seem to have good success. They come back with an elk every year and they put in for the cow tags as well. Most of their success is with filling the cow tags

Do they hunt private land or public? Sounds like a blast!

I believe public but I'm not entirely sure
