Well this is it. Checking gear, checking the gun, ammo, so on and so forth. In 4 1/2 weeks we will be sitting north of Steamboat with two cow tags and a bull tag! Can't wait to get into this area. Looks great on google earth! Anybody got any helpful tips for the area where we are heading? Thanks for any help or just chatting about elk hunting. I'm counting down the days!

Awesome area, be careful coming down rabbit ears pass into steamboat, hard on vehicles. I ruined my transmission there in June on a scouting trip, locals said breakdowns are a daily occurrence there

Ya if your driving a loaded down truck or have a trailer, you need to be careful not to burn up brakes & warp roters. Every one says to downshift, I'm a flatlander so not very good at mountain driving myself.
