Our high school trap team was also able to secure several for the season. Was great of federal to run that for the kids programs.

Minnesota and a number of other states have trap leagues that are the fastest growing high school sport. Nothing actually takes place on school property, not even the firearms safety classes. No firearms are allowed in school photos, nor are even allowed in the leagues name. We are officially the Minnesota High School Clay Target League. There were over 8,500 participants before last seasons shutdown, and a huge state trap shoot. Girls compete on par with boys, and we have developed some fantastic athletes, and hopefully, life-long shooters and hunters. And, we are also the safest H.S. sport.

I think that is awesome! it just surprised me with all the anti gun hysteria these days that such a thing was still possible.

One of the hardest parts was involving foreign exchange students. Most of them have zero experience with firearms and we need to have their parents back home OK their participation. Everyone must have taken the firearms safety class first. We teach that too, so that isn't much of a problem. One of our host families is very involved in the trap league, so that is a head start.

Yeah here in michigan its one of the fastest growing sports. Same no photos with guns, or mention of it in name so ours is listed as the high school trap team. We have had ours the last 3 years now. And have grown from 20 participants to last fall we had 75 with some of kids coming from other area schools that havent gotten there teams started up yet.

It has been a great sport for some of the marginalized kids who aren't "jocks" , superstars, class leaders, etc. Everyone is essentially competing with themselves and you never know who is going to excel. Males really have no clear advantage over females, and you never know who is going to excel at the sport. Most don't become the star, but all improve, and all participate, not just the A-team.
