Hello All,
I am thinking about hunting GMU 49 in 2019. I have some areas that I plan to scout. Has anyone had success archery hunting GMU 49? I will probably hunt the unit opening week and again after the muzzleloader season. Do the elk in this unit typically bugle during hunting seasons? I am use to hunting OTC archery elk and elk rarely bugle during the legal hunting hours. I typically will do a 7 day back-country hunt in wilderness areas to avoid hunting pressure. Looking the area over the looks to be multiple areas with water sources so I should not have any issues unless Colorado has another dry year. I have done some hiking in GMU 49 and have seen small groups of cow elk bedded in various locations but I am usually else where in Colorado during the archery season. If you have any information that you would be willing to share that would be great (PM me if willing). I am not a horn hunter but I would like to harvest a bull as long as it is legal.
Thank you.
