Back in January, I started my first real job (after 10 years of being a cop :p ). The coolest thing about working in the hunting industry now is I get to travel and share my love of hunting. This year, my new employer let me hold a free seminar for first time western hunters. We capped the group at 40 and ended up having 38 show up to a small dealer in northern Ohio. We had some sponsors jump on board with the idea and got to give away some really great gear too!

I titled is the Western Hunting Boot Camp because it was meant to give a quick how-to on applications, gear, and a little bit of practical hunting exercises. We had a great turnout and some really intelligent hunters with a lot of great questions. I look forward to holding this one again!

During the seminar I mentioned this forum and all the great people who helped me start out hunting the west and still give me lots of help! We also passed around a copy of the MRS for people to peek at (and recommended each person get their hands on a copy!) Last year, I hunted a unit with leftover antelope tags with the purpose of holding this seminar and hunting it again in 18. After the seminar, we gave an open invite to our 2018 antelope camp. I think we have about 10 attending the hunt for the very first time and get their feet wet in the west. Anyway, I just thought I'd share the idea and a couple pics from the seminar.

So far I'm zero-for-2018 drawing a tag. hoping for a leftover in Montana and a couple goats in WY.

Happy Hunting!

P.S.- if anyone else wants to join our camp shoot me a pm!

Great idea! Like what you did there. That's super beneficial to alot of people who just dont have a clue how to get started.
