Just returned from our annual AZ Coues deer hunt. We spent a total of 7 days up in the mountains which resulted with one buck being harvested.

This was a new unit for us which made the hunt a bit more difficult. We had three tags but just one was filled. Still, we had alot of fun! Congrats to my buddy who made an amazing shot on this deer.

That is a nice rack on him even if it isn't that wide.

From what I hear 33% isn't too bad on these little critters.

I'll start my second coues deer hunt the day after Christmas and hope to do as well.

Good luck to you. We saw a good number of bucks. Most were way too far or never presented a good shot opportunity. Ohh well, there is always next year.

Thanks, last year we saw quite a few smaller bucks and I mentioned that it would be good to have a tag this year. I just put back in for the unit and late hunt on a whim and drew it for the second year in a row where it usually takes 6-8 years for a non resident to draw it. I just need to get out to the range and do a little bit more shooting out to 500 yards, other than that I am counting the days until I head south again.
