11 day float and just over 100 miles, 110 If I remember right.

I am a big time river rat, I do lots of river trips every year, but the floating in the dark for a couple of hours will stick with me, just as much as running my first class v rapid does.

Nice! 11 days and 100+ miles. That really seems cool. I have rafting experience. Owned a drift boat and commercial raft. Guided lots of fly fishing trips all over Montana, Idaho, and Georgia, but I can only imagine floating an unfamiliar river in the dark, hell even a familiar river. That would definitely have a pucker factor. What created the night floating? Was it predetermined spots to set up camp so as to stay on track logistically?

the night float happened, do to the luck of the draw. I shot my moose and got it in our boat. that was at 8:00pm, it was pitch black at 9 pm. It had rained so much the river rose close to 6 feet and took out any camp spots. via gps, map and a super powerful headlamp we where able to find a sand bar on the map to stay the night on. The first sand bar was under water, the second one was not. floating in the pitch black is very interesting. We made camp that night at 11:00pm. I served dinner at 1:00am.

The first night, I looked at my buddy and just said. "just so you know, we are going to have to deal with adversity when it comes, I don't know what it will come in or when, but when it does, we have to be ready and deal with it." That was most of the trip.

Yes and literally it could be around every corner.
Man though, I bet everybody loves to hear about your adventure and your moose stories.
