Ya, the houndsmen on my side of the mountain are pretty bumbed over the banning of dogs for bears and bobcats. The anti's have really taken away a passion that has been past down through generations.
Ya same in my area I know a few that are talking about moving

Nice looking bear packer58. The cinnamon colored bears are nice. The banning of useing dogs for bears and bobcat is sad. It's a cool sound hearing them in the distance trailing. I'm not a houndsman but I've heard or seen them in the distance while hunting deer. Must be cool watching them work.

Good lookin hounds too![/QUOTE]

The dogs were awesome, there were a couple other houndsmen with us during the hunt and once the track was lined out several more hounds were put in the chase. The closer we got to the tree the louder the roar, at the tree it was unreal.

Good looking bear, packer58! Congratulations. It's too bad bear hunting with hounds is a thing of the past come the first of the year here in the Golden State. A few more years to retirement and I'm out of here!

The use of dogs is a thing of the past, I checked the harvest report this morning and the quota has been met. 1,700 bears reported.

My wife and I talk about retiring and where to go often. The politics here can get emotionally draining for us. Where to go though, we can't decide yet. For us, it will surly be a state that has our similar values, more hunter friendly and more conservative as a whole. I can only hope by the time we retire that what we see here in California does not infect other states in the same way as it has here.
