We are both in our mid 50's looking to antelope Wyoming this season. We were planning to wait several more years for this adventure, but the timing works well for this year. My partner has never harvested an antelope, and I only have one(takes about 15yrs here in Or. to draw a tag). Also this would be both our first Just looking for some opinions on some decent units. Of course we would like to see some decent bucks, we arent looking for B/C bucks. Want to have a good time and take back great memories. All and any imput is greatly appreciated.

Head over to the new members section and introduce yourself. After that look through the old threads and engage in new ones. Once folks get to know you some your more likely to get some help.

Just look at the draw stats for hunts that took 4 points last year, don't think if 5 points got the tag last year it will get it this year. There still won't be a guarantee because you never know when higher point holders might bump up the number it takes to draw. Your list of units will narrow down quickly and you can research from there. Don't expect any unit recommendations on your 1st post to the forum. (unless it's unit 16 LOL).

Good luck and welcome to the forum.

I agree with the advice already posted. Become familiar with the Wyoming Game & Fish website, and spend some time on the stats page. If you really, really want to do the hunt this year, then stick with the hunts that have required 4 pts. to draw 100%. An alternative would be to look down the road a bit, find a unit that takes a few more points, has sufficient public land, and plenty of doe tags. Put in for that unit, and apply for a couple doe tags each (they're only $34 and don't take your points as a type-6 tag). You have the option to be dropped from the doe lottery if you do not draw the buck tag, so look for the box to be checked if that is your wish. I would go for the doe tags, and if the buck tag isn't drawn then learn the unit by hunting does and small game, coyotes, prarie dogs, rattlesnakes, etc. With this experience, you can come back in the future with more points and have a fantastic buck hunt.

Are you applying in the regular or the special draw? It will make a difference in the units you can draw and what units folks might recommend. I would suggest paying up for the special.

Do you both have 5 points or are you splitting points? If you both have 5 points, there's no need to apply in the special draw in my opinion. If a unit required 4 or 5 points in 2018 in the regular draw, it will yield a good hunt.
