Snowed a little last night, our first snow on this winter. Can't see the mountains, but I'm sure they got quite a bit.
Need more for sure.

Late snow maybe just what the animals need after last year. Less migrated to be killed, better forage into fall-early winter. As long as we get enough now to get the water tables up...
Thanks for the update.

You are right there! Without snow our elk hunt was a zero as none had started to migrate off the mountain in Utah.
We ran into lots of local elk hunters down in the basin, they were worse off than the deer hunters, at least we had resident herds to look at. We ranged all the way up to the Uncompaghre NF looking for animals with no luck. I did cut some fresh elk tracks on a canyon rim in the thick junipers south of Norwood, but that was it. We had friends near Telluride hunting elk, and they never saw one animal either. Dad and I were glad to fill our tags and get some meat out of this season...Dad got a 23-inch 4-pointer at 460 yards, which was the 3rd best buck we saw the whole time. We ended our adventure with some good knowledge of our unit and hunting area...we'll be back for 3rd season in a few years. Thank you Colorado Cowboy for all of your advice and Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Got about 2" last night, with the mts getting quite a bit more. More snow is forecast for Wed. Great.....I'm leaving Wed am for a shoot in Yuma. That's all I need is to fight snow clear to Flagstaff! What the hell, we need the moisture!
