102 Deer

Anyone know if the deer quality has nudged up any in 101/102 lately? I saw this is the 3rd year since they lowered the quota. I got max points and the only options I see are to burn my points there or split them with a buddy for Region G. But I'm concerned if my body will hold up in G any more at 58 & coming off several health issues last 4 years. Finally just now able to jog again and am losing weight. I am thinking of 102 because the wife will be with me this year. I noticed goHunt rated 102 better. No way I'd have her accompany me in G. And most other units like 89, 90 have low deer densities. I'd like her to see some critters. Thanks for any suggestions.

They are raising the quotas in both areas this year, wished they would not have but its there call. PM sent!!

I was in that area in 2016 and 2017 elk hunting and only saw does. With that being said I really wasn't looking for deer. I mainly hunted in the Sage Creek and Red Creek areas. My Dad said he saw a lot of deer driving along 191 (from Little Mountain to the border) when he was going into Utah to fish.

I am originally from Rock Springs and was lucky enough to draw this tag a few times, along with an elk tag out there. I spent a ton of time 3 out of the last 4 years. Last year I didn?t draw there. In over 60 days hunting in three years, I saw one buck that was big. Buck numbers are down a bunch. The first time I drew the tag, you could see and pass up 30-40 four point bucks most days. Now your lucky if you see 5. I?ve helped a couple guys the last couple years and both took bucks around 130-150?, the best ones they could find.

Yikes. I had the tag in 2007. It was a good hunt then.
