I will be heading in next week to hunt deer in unit 14. Was there last year and seen some good bucks but still kinda new to the area. Does anyone have any input or ideas. Anything helps. Thanks.

I bought the cabelas alaknak tent last year and love it. The only problem I have with it, is that the 10x10 does not have a stove jack. Does any one know of a good sew shop around colorado springs to have one put in.

Well I was not able to put a bull on the ground this year, but I learned a whole lot about elk. Had a great time with my dad, it was some much need time together. We did see prob 85 elk but only one bull. We were beat to him by a couple other guys that were able to take him. seen some nice bucks...

Doing a scouting trip this weekend up by steamboat springs. Any recommendations on some neat towns or things to do or places to eat in the general area.

Finally have started my long trip back home from the sand box, just a few more hours now and I will be back home. Looking forward to spending time with the family, and in a couple weeks going up to unit 5 and 14 to do some scouting.

I will be elk hunting this year and not sure what caliber to choose. I have alway been a huge fan of the old trusty 300 win mag but last year I bought a 300 rcm. Any thoughts on that caliber? Was it a mistake to buy a short mag?
