What did you get for Christmas guys?!

Here is a picture of my two new knifes. The on on the left is a Forseti Steel damascus with a 4 1/2" blade. The other is a Whitenuckler Classic The Forseti damascus one is more decorative than anything else but it sure is a pretty knife.

What did you get for Christmas guys?!

I bought the same ones that I did a few years ago and like the old ones. The old pair will still stay around for work around the homestead. But when I get out hiking in the hills I don't want the possibility of them starting to come apart on me. That's the biggest reason that I am replacing them.

What did you get for Christmas guys?!

When I was a kid around 13 or 14 I lived down in Douglas for month or so when the monsoons hit. That was the first time that I ever saw 6" of standing water because the ground couldn't suck in up fast enough. I remember one afternoon when a vinegaroon came waltzing across the living room of...

What did you get for Christmas guys?!

The boots are made in Italy and the store is in Nebraska and it is ran by a couple of ex-Cabela's employees from what I have heard. Someone on here posted about the new web site for them and gave a web address and I am glad that they did. The boots that they are replacing are now 3 1/2 years...

What did you get for Christmas guys?!

When I have been down there for the HAM javelina hunt in February I have seen everything from 10" of snow to a constant rain for 3 days. It is fun when it snows and you can track them real easy, but rain isn't too bad either. It is just that when it snows they huddle up in the thick stuff...

What did you get for Christmas guys?!

I was just going to ask why you needed rain gear down in Arizona? o_O It isn't like I have ever been caught out there in the desert when it was needed.

    Bipod Help

My problem is that if I am down and prone I can not get a good sight picture through the scope unless the shot is downhill. Any level or uphill shot and I am done for. Anymore I use a 13.5-27 just for shots where I can be sitting.

    field dress torque knives

I actually pack a Leatherman that has a 3 1/2-4" sawblade that will go through it almost as fast. But the majority of the time when I am gutting a deer sized animal or a elk I'll just cut around the b-hole and pull it out from the inside. But the last 3 or 4 elk that I have done I have just...

    field dress torque knives

I went and looked at a video of it and think that I'll just keep using my old knifes. It seamed like he had more trouble opening up the gut cavity than he really should of. The only real advantage that I saw in the short piece of the video was if you cut open the pelvic area to get the turd...

If humans were scored in Boone and Crockett ?

I don't think that either one of them have scored in a very long long time.

    Bullet Preference for Savage 111

Most new rifles are actually better shooters right out of the box than older ones were. You can thank modern machinery and fit for that. My Weatherby Vanguard in 25-06 shot a sub moa group with its first 3 shots and factory Hornady ammo. Now with reloads it shoots even better. It took quite...

Something more to ponder during application periods

I had a friend who did that. Between him and his wife they maxed out three CC's and then paid them off with a 2nd mortgage on their home. It wasn't 4 months later that those CC's were maxed out again

If humans were scored in Boone and Crockett ?

A lot of animals are judged by their bulk and weight.

    Bullet Preference for Savage 111

I'd still take a look at the Federal Fusion line of ammo 130 to 150 grain bullets. Hornady is also good

    Bullet Preference for Savage 111

What cartridge? On a wild guess I'll say a 7mm0-08, am I close? I would start with some Federal Fusions in 140 grains for that cartridge.
