    AK. Bound!

We'll just have to wait and see, but I expect Canada to be pretty aggressive about this and would almost bet on the vaccine requirement. I know of a band member of the Grand Portage reservation (on the US side) who has been unable to see his family on the Canada side for over 8 months).

    The Memes Thread!

GR8; You have to admit that Kids meme of the sign about anyone being president was funny. It doesn't have to be aimed at anyone and you can put anyone's face on it that you want.

    Who else is...

My only real exercise yesterday was shoveling snow. I plowed for several hours after the first real snowfall of the year (8"). The truck plow works great on the driveway, but the decks and walkways get done the old fashioned way. I was wondering why I was so sore this morning.

    Who else is...

Welcome Muley; Cutting and hand-splitting wood for my primary source of heat for 38 years was a big part of my exercise routine. I practiced and taught martial arts for many years, and that was similar to your boxing as far as exercise and fitness benefits. I no longer run, but a couple...

    AK. Bound!

Bill, at least you're headed in the right direction. I'm jealous, but deferred trying for an Alaska hunt this year due to my scheduled canoe trip in NW Territory in August. I can't even think about booking airline tickets yet until we find out if/when Canada opens up again.

    Primers

I haven't done much reloading thru the years. These primers came to me from an old lady who's son died. He had scads of guns and accessories. I had sold most of everything for her, but there was no interest in the primers at the time. I suppose the interest now is due to the general...

    jocularity

The same rules apply as when you claim you shot a huge deer. It didn't happen and no one believes you until they see the photos.

    Elk Rifle

Yup, the larders are almost completely bare unless you need a Nitro Express 600. I can sell some of my 30-06 Core-lokt...only $100 a box. On second thought, make that $200.

    Elk Rifle

My BIL used accubonds for elk, but did not shoot anything other than deer with it so far. I use my 338 for bull elk, and the Barnes bullets have planted five of them so far. The Tikka 30-06 is used for pronghorn, whitetail deer, mule deer, and cow elk. I just use Core-lokt (165 gr.)for local...

    Elk Rifle

My Bro in law and I bought the same rifle; his in 300WSM, and mine is a 30-06. He complained about the recoil, so he had it ported and upgraded the recoil pad. Both turned out to be real shooters with factory ammo. I do think that you will like it.

    White water

Kabob; Much of my experience over 55 years of canoeing and then guiding was in the BWCA and Quetico parks. If this is what you meant by a trip to the boundary waters, I can share some possible routes with you. By August, some of the dangerous waters are now runnable, but many others are now...

    Looking fo “Moderate” terrain suggestions.

Even a general elk tag in Wyoming for NR's will require at least 3 pts. I've hunted late season cow elk, and snowmobiled in the area near Cokeville, and there is quite a bit of steep country (Raymond Mts.). Much of the surrounding country isn't too bad, but that doesn't mean that the elk will...

    White water

I can't call myself a river junkie, as my whitewater experience has mostly been during extended canoe trips. I've canoed over 3,000 miles in the US and Canada between 2011 and 2017, and have a 360 mile trip to the arctic ocean set up for this coming August. But, I did go on a 5 day whitewater...

    Who else is...

That's why I'm limiting myself to only a couple hours per day and only 3-4 days per week. I am finishing some plaques for some friends for the deer shack and when I free up the shop space and clean up all the sawdust I may have to start working the weights again. My guns used to be bigger than...

    The Wild Game Eats Thread...

Bear is one of those critters that needs to be well cooked because of parasites that they often carry. Bear has plenty of fat, but little marbling, so it still tends to be tough if you bake a roast or fry a steak to well done. It does make excellent burger when mixed with suet and cooked well...

    Venison burger with organs

I do put the heart in when I make burger, making sure to cut the fat off of it first. We quit eating liver a number of years ago when liver flukes became common and one of the shack members did a horrible job of cooking it. Nothing less appealing than a burned liver that bleeds all over your...

I just realized last night that my hips haven't been aching at all for the last month or so. I had reluctantly given up running years ago because of arthritis in my hips and big toes. The pain has just shifted to my shoulders after I started a daily regimen of dead tree cutting, so purely from...

    draw weight ??????????????????????

I've got an idea for you Kid that you could put together in your shop. 1. Wrap an exercise band onto a Yeti (or similar) type can cooler. Attach the other end of the band to the wall. 2. Insert the beverage of your choice. (I would suggest beer, otherwise why bother.) 3. Stand a measured...
