Looks like unit 165 since of the 5 LE units that could be draw with 3-4 points it is the only 1 with good access.

37, 60, 116, 120, 165, G. All I found in the reg draw at 3-4 points.

I have no idea, sorry. That's a foreign land to me anymore. Leftover tags for me are a meat hunt, so there are plenty of good alfalfa fed whitetails does on this side of the divide for meat, and they are in the unlimited category. I am probably on the wrong forum, but subsistance hunters and farmers don't have computers or time to dink off on them in general. :)
No worries, I'm all about putting food on the table in any form! Thats the way I was raised and I still carryon that tradition!

You guys must have drawn in the Special draw because Regular draw is showing 81% 1st choice with no points. Last year it had leftovers. I noticed not all 1st choice apps drew C either and last year 25% drew it 2nd choice. Some other tags I been watching went up too.
I havent checked the draw odds but that sounds crazy for Y.

Non-resident general draw for REGION Y Quota-490 1st choice-313 (100%), 2nd choice- 230 (77%), 3rd choice- 37

Preference Points - 1385, # of points- 0, 1st choice applicants- 1698 (81.45%)

Am I missing something here? Its 100% draw odds first choice with 77% odds 2nd choice, but on the preference point table it is only 81% draw odds first choice. If I am wrong can someone please explain how they two tables differ?

Do the preference point tables numbers NOT reflect special applicants rollovers?

I surely can't explain anything, but I was not in the special draw. I was trying to deliberately not burn my deer PPs this year and was hoping to draw Y as a second choice. I was not spending extra money to try and draw a region where there had been leftovers available in the past.

That is because there are tags allotted to the PP draw and the random draw. Anyone that doesnt draw in the PP draw has another chance to draw in the random draw.

I wasnt thinking about it right when i posted. I was just looking at the PP draw and you were in the random draw to draw 2nd choice.

I'm kind of wondering what my next step will be. I'll have 5 points going into the draws next year. Seems like that's kind of a no man's land so to speak. I don't have the money to hire a guide in G. And from what I've read, that's the only way I would do that hunt. Or hire some horses maybe. I just really don't have the gear or resources for a true "hike in deep and camp" type hunt. All my gear weighs a ton and is built for the lake camping we do haha. What I do have is vacation time though. A bunch of it. If planned properly in advance, 15 days isn't an issue. Even more if needed. But with 5 points, there aren't really a lot of options it seems.

The only thing we can do is move to Wyoming so we dont have to deal with points and can get otc tags if we dont draw:D

I've tried talking my wife into it trust me :)

And if she wasn't so close to retiring (being vested wise) in the state gov here, she would probably consider it.

I am so spoiled. You two are welcome, but spread the word that it is awful living conditions. :) 30 below with a howling wind six months of the year and summers so hot you melt in the shade...That sounds an awful lot like what they tell me about North Dakota. What is the secret they are keeping up there?

Haha, well I may join you someday out there. We do like KY a lot though. Except for the summers. Humidity is awful here.

Your best bet is to buddy up with someone who has more points than you and draw a tag:)

Ha.....well I'm not sure anyone would take me up on that kind of deal. I'm skipping next years draw probably. So I'll have 6 going into 2016. I'll probably put in for a difficult unit next year. just to try and beat the odds though.
