Arizona's website is up and running for anyone wanting to to put in for Elk and Antelope or just to buy points. God bless
Yes. AZ is not cheap. Plus $15 per species. To get a pp you stiff have to buy a hunting license to get a pp right?
Correct. If you play the game right, you should be able to only buy a license 2 out of every 3 years.Your AZ license is now good for 365 days, correct? I'll probably just wait to apply towards the end of the app period and then apply early next year.
So I bought my license on February 7 last year. You're saying that if I do not buy another license that will be current on February 10, that my application will basically be thrown out?You MUST have a valid license on the 10th of February, the closing date of the draw. If you bought a license last year, the system will allow you to apply without your purchasing a new one, even though it will lapse prior to the draw close. If you do not have a valid license on February 10 2015, you will be real unhappy come draw results time.
Buying "points only" is the same as applying for a hunt because a "point" is another hunt code processed thru the draw system.
The system will allow you to purchase a 2015 license and pick a "start date" that overlaps the 2014 license.
The ONLY way to get two years out of one license was to have purchased it on the closing date last year (Feb 11). You would still need to buy a 2015 license to hunt so playing the date game has no financial benefit, unless you apply points only.
The AZ 365 day system does NOT work like the 365 day system in Utah.
Well said WB, 2x on the no leeway part. If you do try the "trick", you better hope on that last day the site holds up so you can buy the license, and if it crashes you are given a do over. It has happened, not saying in AZ, but the gamble is there. Personally, I'm not going to roll the dice on my max (after I take the class) deer points. If I was much over 5-6 points, and was counting on AZ as one of my states going forward, I might call the added license fee point insurance. I am sure the state is hoping we do, then again the subtle rule change may be a back door strategy to thin out the ranks of point holders...AZ is on a 7 day cycle. Every year the closing date is one day earlier until it flips back and starts over. For the trick to work, you have to by the license on the last day of the draw and have the next years date end one day earlier. You have no leeway. If you did not buy your license on feb 11 last year you need to buy another one.
