A little bit of the story on my ram. We seen him the day before as we scouted for the ram that the G & P wanted me to take.... a 13 year old ram who the guide thought was a little better than the ram I took. Never seen him and he has not been seen since July and the G & P thinks he may have died of old age. We saw 5 rams on Monday with the Ram I took probably being the largest and most even. Tuesday morning we saw this ram and another along with 5 or 6 ewes on the side of a butte. We watched them for quite awhile and it appeared they were working higher. Fearing they would go up and over and get into some heavy tree cover we made a plan to stalk around the backside of the butte and climb to where we thought they were headed and hopefully get a good shot. Well in the mean time the herd did not climb but instead went lower... way lower out onto the meadows below the buttes. We had to hike down and then way around the meadow and come in from below them and sneak to within 100 yards or so using a deep was as cover. It worked and I got a shot at 110yards. This was the 18th ram taken in Nebraska since reintroduction of sheep in the state. That is my son Justin in the picture with me.... the best part was sharing the hunt with him!!
