Mountain Lion Hunting Ban Filed in Colorado

A ballot proposal that could ban mountain lion hunting and bobcat hunting in Colorado was filed on Friday.

Sad thing is with so many transplants this will most likely pass. Ballot box game management has to be the dumbest thing ever but here we are.

They started years ago when they got rid of spring bear hunts and being able to use dogs. That same ballot did away with a lot of trapping and required hunters to salvage the meat from mountain lions and a number of other animals that were hunted.

Last I heard, in Dec opponents of this proposal filed a petition with the Colorado Supreme Court seeking to block the ballot initiative that would ask voters next year to approve a statewide ban on hunting mountain lions, bobcats and Canada lynx. The petition argues the measure is misleading and the Colorado Secretary of State’s Title Board made several mistakes when the board approved it for signature gathering to get it on the November 2024 ballot.

Yeah, I'm hearing Proposed Initiative #91 ran into legal issues with the term "Trophy Hunting" so now the Anti's are trying a different approach with Proposed Initiative #101. This time they aren’t seeking an outright ban on hunting, rather a very limited season from December 19th – January 1st, and the harvest methods would be limited to self-tracking (i.e., no electronic collars, no hounds, no traps), and it also seeks to ban trophy hunting; if you do manage to take a cat, everything except the meat will need to be turned over to the relevant authorities, so you will not be able to keep your hide and skull.

I remember years ago my friend and I talking about how Colorado would fall to the democratic liberal socialists when weed became legal. The byproduct juice of legalization was not worth the squeeze. Nut jobs or not, they are WAY more organized now than hunters and we/you residents are seeing the effects of it.

it all started way before that.it HAS gotten worst since, but it started before any of us were even a swimmer in their daddies balls.
