2 questions,

1, can I apply for WY sheep and choose a non-pref point option? ie, only try for the random tag...? This is the only way I could see trying for a WY sheep at this point with 0 points. and if not, they should! might help point creep. and get more to apply with a non-pref point option.

2. If I drew a wy mountain goat tag, any idea what an outfitter would cost?

thanks!

No matter if you have points or not...You go into the random draw. I dont believe you are required to pay for a preference point if you dont want to accrue one. . Mountain goat is basically the lottery...no preference points and worse odds than anything else haha. If you do happen to draw, I have a good friend who is very well known for guiding goat hunters each year here and his hunts run 5k for 7 days I believe still.

They will deduct the $150 PP fee from your refund for sheep (and moose). There's no way to get around it, I already looked.
That's what I suspected.

Personally I would take a chance at the random draw if I didn't have to pay $150 point every year.

At this point I don't see the reason to apply/pay $150 point each year.

I thought you could choose to get a point or not when applying, I had the choice yesterday when I put In for ELK. But could be different for sheep I suppose

You have the PP option with antelope, deer, and elk. There is no PP option with moose and sheep, they will deduct $150 from your refund if you apply. $$$Money, money, money, it's all about the MONEY$$$. They have always deducted the PP from my refund.
