Hey fellas,
I'm on about every board known to hunters, but just started posting here. Enough points to be dangerous in several areas. Looking at the following and was hoping you guys could give me a heads up on what unit and why..

5, 20, 23,24.25,26

Got one of my best friends in Pinedale and were leaning towards 5 and/or 20 but would love to hear why I should try elsewhere.. thanks for any suggestions.

26 and hunt the northern side of the unit as most guys hunt the southern part. Lots of public land, plenty of bulls, some big ones if you have patience. Especially if you have a guy close that can scout for you. But seriously, hunt the best area where you have the most intel on, especially from actual boots on the ground, preferably locals. I owe my Boone & Crockett Wyoming bull to a local Wyoming guide I'm friends with who helped me choose my area and to the local moose biologist that gave me intel on an area he just hunted for elk on which case I immediately left the next day for that basin and harvested my moose.

Wish I was in your shoes... If you have a local scout, you should by all means use it. I like 24 mainly because I have hunted it but I'm not sure that is your best moose hunt right now. I believe all of those areas can produce a good moose but finding it can be the challenge. A local scout would save so much time by locating a couple good bulls before you start to hunt. Sorry I'm not more help but that's my 2 cents.

Biggest Moose I've ever seen in WY was way back in the wilderness, 16 I think, in 2015. Dang few there, but he was a very special Bull. Thought I was in AK for a moment. I've hunted 20, before the wolves hammered it too bad, but still some good bulls there in spots now my contact says. In 2014 I selected 26 for my son, Moose all over. So I'd go with local help as my first choice, 2x if he has access to horses, then probably look to the mid 20's areas due to higher moose numbers. No real wrong choice with the help you have.

It has been a few years since I hunted 20, but it wasn't good. Not too long ago someone posted on here that he was hunting in 20 and was having trouble finding anything worth shooting. So I'd be cautious about 20. Check it out carefully before applying.

thanks so far! If I draw (I have 17 NR pts) I'll have to thank my dad as he started this when I was 20 and in college. We kept it up.. Looking at the point dispersal we both wish he would have started at least one year earlier! No guarantees when others start putting in, after getting home from a great DIY Yukon hunt with my buddy from Pinedale, I have a moose on my mindIMG_7103.jpg...

Oh man, those are some awesome antlers! Got any more photos or details on that trip? I NEED to get to Alaska or the Yukon before I'm too old.

I saw quite a few good bulls and 3 that I'd consider monsters in area 38/41 two years ago. I had a cow moose tag, all I saw were Bulls & cows with calves for 7-8 days. Finally found an antlerless on the last day.

Wish I had enough point for 38/41 but I'm chasing a dream I believe. That's why I'm cashing in...if I draw of course.

For the Yukon hunt, we hunted western Alaska with Papa Bear Adventures and had the times of our lives. Don't wait on this hunt, just go if at all possible. IMG_7074.jpg

We've taken 2 moose out of 26 and one from 40. 40 was applied for based on the PP needed to draw and it worked out for me. Private land hunting in 40 mostly but with 3 phone calls before I applied then same 3 calls after I drew I had over 10 miles of the Ham's Fork to hunt. 26 was a good unit to hunt for both of us. Bulls on the NF and BLM . Landowners are willing to grant access but call early.
