My 11 year old son got his first bowkill 2 nights ago. 4th deer, but first one he ever shot at with his bow. Nice mature doe. Hit her behind the shoulder, but high, taking out the far lung and the major artery beneath the spine. He?s pulling about 40# and shooting the 1 3/4? swacker broadhead. Big bucks are awesome, but for me, sharing my kids? successes is better than anything.70391072-2AD2-4FFF-9A4C-4517F97A8CDA.jpg8CFE5594-B170-4D92-A796-076658F18062.jpg

I still remember my son's first deer, both with gun and bow. You can't beat those good times and the memories. He's now grown and starting out in life. I miss the simpler times...

Really nice! My son is 54 and I remember his first hunt when he was 7 (Doves) and his first big game kill (Antelope) when he was 12. Memories will never go away on something like this.

That is awesome. Congratulations to your son for his deer and to you for teaching him to hunt.

Congrats!

for so many years I passed immature deer with the bow... and never shot anything.

I wished i had taken more does and management bucks along the way.... I think it certainly helps to have some successes under your belt when that big boy finally does appear!

I also didn't realize what an accomplishment it was to harvest a deer with the bow until I did it!

I don't do things for accolades and compliments, but was quite surprised by all the congratulations I received when people found out I took my first whitetail/first bow kill/first buck. Kind of caught me off guard and felt great.

So congrats young stud! keep up the good work.
