When do the sheds start dropping in central MT? I went out saturday and saw a 140 class 4 point packing both sides. All the bucks around my place are still packing both sides as well. Interesting enough I saw a small 3 point and 4 point doing some light sparring last week. Im itching to get out there and find some nice browns!

Here in Nv they should be falling off already but we have had such warm weather I think everything is all screwed up. As far as finding sheds the deer aren't in winter range due to no winter. I think it's gonna be real tough this year to find any

Started here in the Bitterroot in mid-January. Yesterday my buddy found three nice brownies, but I have seen quite a few bucks still packing. They should be mostly on the ground by the last week of this month.

It all just depends.. A lot of times the bigger bucks will drop earliest, but it also varies based on nutrition and such. I've seen some whitetails dropped, some still packin' and some mule deer dropped already. Mule deer usually dont start until about the same time the elk drop with is usually the very end of this month into next month with the majority around middle of March. For here anyways :) With the weird winter we have had, it may have them all messed up.

I am hoping it gets super warm tomorrow and melts it all.. haha but I doubt that will happen since it is still snowin' like crazy outside right now.. I think someone is trying to tell me to just relax this weekend.. between all the snow we got and I have a sinus infection and bronchitis.. Maybe I should just sleep.. I just find that hard to do when there's horns on the ground!

Isn't it easyer to spot them with a couple inches of snow?
I have found if the snow is down first and then freezes then yes, but if the sheds are down then snow on top the tines just look like brush and are about impossible to find. I sit mostly and glass so I guess it could have to do with style too.

I found a buck lying dead the other day, only had one antler on him, when I picked his head up the other antler popped off in my hand. I guess that is considered a shed?
