Riflescopes w/zerostop suggestions

Looking to upgrade to a custom dial turret type scope. I don't need a lot of adjustment range, only 15 moa or so, and would like to stay with a 1" scope instead of getting a 30mm. Something like a luepold VX-3i would be perfect, but its my understanding that those scopes don't have zero stop. If I cant have a turret with zero stop I'm not going to put one on my rifle, because I've heard to many stories about scopes getting turned and not being able to reestablish zero without going back to the range. I'm not interested in shooting at 1000 yards, just want to practice at 500ish without wondering how many inches I am holding over the bullseye on the target with the reticle. I don't want a 8x30 zoom or anything like that either. Something like 3x9, 4x12, 2x10, with a 40mm objective is what I'm looking for. Just a lightweight hunting style riflescope. Budget? Lets keep it under 2k, but less than 1k would let me sleep better at night.

What other scope makes/models are out there that you guys could recommend?

Swarovski Z5 3.5-18 x 44 BT Reticle
I believe you can get one for about 1275.00-1300.00
I have one on a 300 RUM, it has been very repeatable on adjustments and return to zero.
I placed an aftermarket turret on the scope from The Outdoorsman, cost about 100.00, comes engraved with caliber , you send them bullet weight, BC, elevation above see level and fps, they send you turret back with very visible yardage markings.
Also have a Z5 in 5-25 on a 6.5 Weatherby caliber.
Both scopes perform very well and I think are a good value.

I have 4 Leupolds with their custom turrets. Never had any problems with them returning to the zero you started with after turning to a longer range. All of mine are set up with a 200 yard zero.

I've had issues with a couple Leupold VX-6 scopes on dialing. I went with Huskemaw to replace them and so far the dialing has been spot on. They are not 1" tubes though. I also have a Swaro Z5 3.5-18x44 and it has been good for the most part. It's on a really light 300WM with a brake and it got knocked off zero this fall before a hunt. I had it in an old rifle rest on a picnic table and the rear sling swivel caught in the rest so on recoil the front of the rifle jumped about 5" off the table and slammed back down hard. The point of impact moved 6" at 100yds. I can't say for sure the Huskemaws or any scope really could have handled that, but figured I'd share it. Even the Swaro isn't infallible, check your zero often.

The Vortex 2-10x44 PST is the closest match to your request that I know about. It is a 30mm tube however. I have a 4-16x44 HSLR and the Vortex CRS zero stop system, while very simple works well for me.

I misread the tables in the consumer catalog for the leupold vx-3. It does have zerostop once a cds cap is installed. Thanks for clarifying that for me guys.

If you are looking at 0-500 yard shooting, you may consider the B&C reticle in a Leupold scope. Mine is a 4.5x14 VXIII on top of a Ruger 30.06. I shoot factory 165 grain Hornady superformance ammo and I am very accurate out to 500 with mine. I haven't had to adjust zero in many years...

I'd prefer the reticle to the CDS in a Leupold after my experiences. I have good luck with Leupold scopes until I start dialing them regularly. The older 4.5-14x with the VH reticles have worked well on a few coyote rifles I have.

Well, I originally ordered a VX3i 3.5x10x40cds but I sent it back to cabelas. I exchanged it for a VX5hd 3x15x44 cds zl2, and I'm glad I did. My eyes aren't getting any younger, and the clarity is very, very good. Hunted with it approximately 30 days this year. So far, elevation adjustment has been spot on, and it works great in low light. Absolutely zero complaints about this scope.
