Rain Gear

I had a good learning experience that fortunately wan't too far from home. A half inch of rain over two days turned into 2 inches in about 12 hours. My cheap rain gear couldn't cut it so now I am looking for something new. I am wondering what works for everyone. I have looked at reviews and different places and can't quite get the info I am looking for. I was kind of hoping to find something that is waterproof but could also be worn for more than just a rainy day. I am looking for early season archery clothing. Any suggestions. Thanks

I love my core4 torrent rain gear, but I think any of the top companies have great rain gear. I would suggest paying a little more for some great rain gear and not having to worry about it ever again, good luck in your search.

There is a lot of good rain gear out there I would find the best for your budget and what you find to fit best to you. I personally have been using kryptek for two years and have been impressed but that's my opinion, everyone is different. Good luck

Montana is where I live and mostly hunt. Most years during archery elk we don't have much rain so I have never needed to purchase any rain gear except just an emergency pvc set. But we hunted for a half day in the rain and I stayed sort of dry with my cheap set, but it was noisy and torn up by the end of the day. I am wanting to spend the money that I need to get a good set that will last but I would also like something that can be worn for more than just rain gear if I am going to spend a bunch of money. I was looking at the First Lite Boundary Storm Tight. Any one have any experience there.

Kuiu is what I'm running. My buddy likes his Kryptek gear.
If you want just a 100% rain protection helly hansen guide jacket is the way to go. Did a float trip in Alaska and it made a bad trip manageable. But, the H/H jacket is not very breathable; if it's raining your going to be damp any way.

I'm gonna give Frogg toggs a whirl this season. Wanted something light to take backpacking. And they are inexpensive.

I bought a set of the First Lite Boundary Stormtight. I can't comment on its waterproofness as I haven't had it out in the rain yet. It feels like it will do the trick, and looks great in ASAT. My only reservation with it so far is it feels like it will be a little noisy. That could change when it's wet. We'll see. I was hoping to use it as a wind break when it's cold and windy, but I think it will be too noisy for my liking. The wind and cold may persuade me otherwise.

I'm running Cabela's Gore Tex reason gear. I'll likely get the chance to test it later this winter. Right now it's dryer than a fossilized coyote turd, mate.

cabelas space rain, light, relatively inexpensive and suprisingly durable. Got to test it out quite a bit the last two years in CO.

I used my set one day this past elk hunt. Surprisingly easy to put on with boots thanks to the zippers and Velcro on the pant legs..

I brought the frogg toggs to Wyoming this year, we only had a little shower and they were fine, but any little twigs will rip holes in them! I was even careful and got quite a few rips.

I just picked up a Core4 Torrent Jacket and Pants set for an upcoming hunt. It has pit zips on the jacket and 3/4 length zips on the legs for easier on/off. It seems well made and priced right.

I can tell you first hand that KUIU Attack pants are in no way water proof. I wore them last Sunday on a hike through wet fir trees. I was wet within 30 minutes. I had on merino wool base layer that became wet then wicked down to my socks and my feet were also wet within one hour. Gaters may have prolonged the wicking issue for a while but I was wet to the top of my thighs. Sooner or later I would have been wet with or without the gaters. Worst part is, it wasn't even raining out.

If you go with KUIU make sure you get something other than Attack pants if you want to stay dry.
