Howdy all!
Just want to take a quick minute to introduce myself. Long time hunter, started off hunting ducks at 12 and then got into big game during high school. Middle aged family man with kids from Northern California. No, not all of us from California are bleeding heart liberals LOL!! Have hunted for deer mostly here in Nor Cal and in northern Utah, and antelope in Wyoming.
Went on my first elk hunt back in 1996 in Northern Idaho and was hooked from that very first hunt. Had some success there for about 5 years, but had to take a break from hunting out of state for financial reasons. When things got better money wise, went back to our spot in Idaho to find it had been over run by wolves, what a shame. Going to try and find new elk spot in Colorado this year, so I have been doing a lot of research on the DOW website. Not really a trophy hunter, but by all means want a nice bull for the wall some day. In the mean time, I'd be happy with a nice fat cow or raghorn to fill my freezer, so I will be looking into the either sex hunts.
Love the outdoors and will be doing a lot more hunting in the future. Retirement is only 6-8 years away, then I hope to move out of Ca and possibly somewhere in Nevada. In the mean time, got lots of plans for hunting and hope to hunt some new places in our great nation.
