i got my new rangefinder in the mail today as you might have seen in the other post and i have been playing around with it for awhile now and some of the settings and the manual are really confusing me. Is there anyone out there that has this model and that i could visit with about all the settings or mainly the angle compensation mode? thanks

What the heck, no G7 BR2?
I wish I had one now. That 1600b ballistic gizmo they have in there rangefinder is garbage. Don't buy one for the ballistic solution. It basically has no angle compensation in it. I was confused with this function when I first got my 1600b. And unfortunately this rangefinder cannot be used for this basic/quick angle-compensation. The ABC mode needs to be set to EHr. Then you also need to select a pre-set curve. In order you do this you need to calculate your trajectory based on the default atmosphere and temp listed on page 176 of the manual. It is 1013 mbar which calculates out to 29.92 in*hg. Temp is 20`C/68`F. Then find the preset that best matches your trajectory.

Then on page 37 of the manual, there is a note that basically says if the temp and/or pressure are different from the default inputs, then EHr will compensate accordingly even for horizontal shots.

The EHr function should have more description in the instruction to explain that temperature and pressure are also used along with angle to generate the "effective horizontal range". They list the 'note', but it's not very clear.

So if you want to use the 1600b you will have to settle to get the angle reading by pressing the secondary button, and then input that into your separate ballistics calculator. Unfortunately Leica tried to get too fancy and is the big downfall of the 1600b. What they need is another angle-only EHr function for guys that only want angle-only compensated distances.

The only thing that I do like is that I can get temp, station pressure and the angle degree. Once I get all that I input it into my program and I have my angle comp or shoot to range. Yes the g7 br2 has a button that u push and has all the info u need specified for your exact ballistics and will give u the correct moa dope for your gun. Nice and it's only $1500

You should check to see where the stations are that your getting pressure info from. It could be miles away from your location and could cause inaccuracy with your solution.

i wont be using the ballistics in the rangefinder at all becasue to me they are inaccurate and could cause wounded animal. I will only be using the rangefinder and the temp, pressure and angle degree reading it gives me and then i will have to plug in the angle degree into my shooter app and hit calculate.

Just rumors at this point but supposedly another company (my guess is Vectronix) is licensing their stuff out to them (Leica) and someone else. It's supposed to be THE rangefinder but it's going to have to be pretty amazing for me to give up my G7 BR2. Speaking of, you're the first person I've seen that hasn't complained about the price tag on that. For everything that the G7 does, I think $1500 is a pretty darn good price for the features it has. People were buying the Swaro in droves for 1k, and it's a good unit, but it isn't anything like the BR2.

If they don't come out with a small range finder the size of the crf and can range 1600 yards and has angle comp I will probably also be getting the Br2. It does have some pretty amazing features.
