kids/youth bow

My almost 5 year old daughter (my oldest) is showing interest in shooting a bow and has asked numerous times to shoot one. Unfortunately I don't have a bow that will fit her. My wife picked up one of the less expensive long bows with a couple fiberglass arrows and she enjoys shooting it but she does wonder why she cant hit the target as well as dad does.

I'm not a long bow shooter and have always shot a compound so I find it difficult to instruct on aiming a long bow and if form should be any different from a compound.

I would like to get her a compound bow that I can install sights and a rest on but most of the bows that I find are either to heavy for her or have a draw weight that is too high. Anyone have thoughts or feedback on the subject of a bow for introducing a young archer to shooting a bow with?

You may want to check into the new bow by Bowtech. The infinity edge. It has a draw weight of 5lbs - 70lbs. The bows weight is 3.1 lbs.
They designed it specifically so you buy one bow, and grow with it. Its spendy for a youth bow, but a great investment for years and years of use.

I looked at the bowtech and even had my daughter hold it. I like the draw length and weight adjustability but the bow weighs a little over 3 lbs and it seemed like she really struggled holding it up when her arm was extended. Plus it seemed a little long for a kid that only like 44 inches tall.

Maybe with time she would get used to the weight and then grow into the axle to axle.

I have looked at the little brother to the Infinity edge which is the Diamond atomic and it appears to be a little lighter. Not as much adjustment, but maybe suited better for a smaller kid. Anyone seen or used one of these?

This is my daughter with her bow about a year ago. We got her the Fred Bear kid bow but it was small and very cheap. We returned it and got the Bowtech (I think. I will check today and get the info) it is a much better fit for her. This might be a good fit for your daughter.

The last two are at a range with Geno last year. He was giving her some tips on shooting.

The Diamond Atomic is worth a look. My 6 yr old daughter has fun with it.
