Finally tagged my first deer. I'm an AZ native and have been trying to stick one of these little coues bucks for a couple years now. Rolled out solo at 4:30am. Glassed up a few random does, finally at 7:30 I glass up the bucks me and a buddy have been chasing the past couple of weeks across the canyon and way at the top. Decided to go after them and finally get to where they were with no sign of them. I see a doe and a spike at 100yd and just wait it out hoping to see what me of the 3x3s. Started creeping up and looking for the big bucks but I never did find them. Saw the doe and spike again and moved down about 30yd and sat on a big boulder. The wind was in my face the whole time and the doe feeds out at 55yd between some oaks. Wait another 10-15 mins just watching and finally the spike walks out. Rangefinder says 64 yards. I adjust the slider on my sight just a bit, draw back and let it fly. Shot was a little bit back, but he didn't go more than 40yd and piled up! I'd be lying if I said I didn't get a little watery eyed and yelled at the top of a mountain in joy/relief! My very first deer and it's a solo spot and stalk, velvet archery coues whitetail!

Way to go! From what I understand any Coues is a trophy, especially with a bow.
They certainly are skittish and can live in some tough country! I missed a 90" class 3x3 last summer! [emoji30]

Congrats on your first bow kill!
First deer at least! Tagged a javelina each of the last 3 years with a bow, and two sept elk tag soups... Hopefully fill my Nov archery bull tag and go 3 for 3 this year javi/deer/elk!

Excellent work congrats on the deer. Good luck with the elk hunt!! What unit,by the way,for your elk hunt??
Unit 23, don't know it very well. I've had a 27 tag the last two years, so this is gonna be something new for me. I have 10 straight days off so I'll just go hunt hard.

Great job, anything taken with a bow is a trophy..especially the Coues deer. Those things are tough to kill with a bow.
