Kuiu just announced that Jason Hairston has passed. Really sad to see this, the guy seemed to have the world by the tail.
Prayers to his family as they navigate this difficult time.

Some are reporting this happened while he was on a sheep hunt. There are some rumors of suicide, but I highly doubt that.

Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

Guys on hunttalk and bowsite claim they know it was suicide. Regardless, it's very sad when a child losses a parent at such a young age.

Thoughts and prayers. I'll add an extra mile and go a little further next hunt for him. God Bless him and his family.

Sad to hear for sure.

Suicide is a hard thing to understand from the outside. The demons are strong and can make us make choices that have no clear meaning to us but only who they possess.

Prayers for his family.

Hard to believe he's gone. Jason and talked for maybe 15 minutes at the pack seminar KUIU had about his desse ram Goliath. I was kidding him that at the WSF show he had Goliath there and he was trying to hold up the skull and horns and kept lowering them. He said you hold up 35 lbs of horn and skull! RIP JASON!

I find it hard to believe that the guy killed himself. Especially someone with such an awesome career ahead of him.

I knew a guy who was on a sheep hunt and he fell from a cliff while scaling around a rock face and died. Everyone though he committed suicide too....he didn't. The guide watched him slip and fall 200 feet.

I sure hope they release something soon I hate when rumors spread about a guy.. everything that I have dug up shows that he went on a caribou hunt with his son and his father who the hell chooses to commit suicide on a trip like that..

The Visionary

We are incredibly saddened to report that Jason Hairston, the visionary leader and founder of KUIU, was found dead at his home in Dixon, CA on Sept. 4, 2018. He took his own life. He is survived by his wife Kirstyn and 2 children. The family has requested that donations be made to support CTE-related research at the Boston University Concussion Legacy Foundation in lieu of sending flowers.

My heart goes out to his wife and and especially his two children.

I'm not sure that there is a single action harder on a family than suicide. That grief is long-lasting and like all losses of family members, never totally goes away. They really need our prayers.

This is also a reminder not to envy well-known successful people as our culture is wont to do. Every person and every family struggles with issues. Contrary to popular belief, money, fame and "success" do not cure them. Life is just rough sometimes no matter who you are. That's why it is so important to have compassion and invest in people.
