Long time EHJ reader, first time posting on the forums. My dad, uncle, brothers, and I will be headed to Unit 1 in Idaho for whitetails. My grandparents grew up in the Sandpoint/Bonners area, so we'll be hunting the same areas that my grandpa hunted as a boy, which adds a neat aspect to the hunt. We're planning on hunting Nov 15-22. Does anybody have any experience hunting this area that they could share? Areas to hunt and areas to camp (we have a large outfitters tent that we'll be camping in)? We've heard that the area west of Priest Lake is supposed to be best, but I'd appreciate hearing anybody's first hand experience in the area. Thanks in advance!

Thanks, Tim. That's in line with what I've heard elsewhere. Does that area get a lot of hunting pressure, relative to other places in the Unit?

I think that you might be a week early, the best rut action most years is just getting going around the 20th.
priest has good deer and lots of public land

idahobowhunter, we just moved back our hunt dates by a couple days. We're now planning on hunting the 17th through the 24th, for that exact reason. Thanks for the input and advice everybody! Any more comments would be welcome.
