I have been hunting antelope for 40 years and this year was the first time I have ever hunted them during the rut. It was difficult to say the least. Usually hunt in mid to late September before the rut starts. This year here in southern Colorado the rut was full on the 1st of October. The animals are always on the move, the bucks chasing the does. When I say on the move, that means running. Hard to figure where they will be. I did find a good buck bedded down with some does right at dark. I figured they would be in the same place at daylight...they were. I just couldn't find the buck. They finally saw me at 300 or so yards and all got up and the buck was there. I just couldn't do my part and shot just over his back as they started to run.
It was a learning experience for me.
